The Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) is the peak body supporting Victoria’s public and community health services to deliver high-quality care. Established in 1938, the VHA represents Victoria’s diverse public healthcare sector, including public hospitals, aged care and community health services. About the role

Working with the Strategic Projects Team, this role will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of multiple state-wide projects relevant to the Victorian public health sector and VHA member-services.

The role involves delivering projects focussing on (but not limited to):

  • Describing public health sector operational demand, needs, challenges, enablers and goals
  • Building sector capability to meet these challenges
  • Supporting the implementation of government reforms and legislation
  • Co-designing high level operational models of care
  • Piloting and scaling-up of innovations, e.g. to optimise health workforce wellbeing

About you

You are experienced in managing complex projects, preferably within the healthcare and/or not-for profit environment. You will have strong stakeholder engagement, organisational, communication, and analytical skills to support the successful delivery of projects.

You are a team player with a collaborative mindset and are aligned to the vision, purpose and values of the VHA with a member centric focus.

Selection criteria

Essential:

  • A desire to make a positive difference to the work the health sector undertakes on behalf of our community
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and effective stakeholder engagement skills
  • A strong commitment to, and demonstrated skills in working collaboratively in teams
  • Demonstrated project management skills and capability to support complex projects; preferably within the healthcare and/or not-for-profit environment
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and initiative including the ability to prioritise competing responsibilities, tasks and prepare reports and presentations
  • Strong computer-based skills, including competence in the core Microsoft Office suite and the use of teleconferencing
  • Ability to analyse and write clear, accurate and convincing reports, articles and briefings on complex matters
  • Demonstrated understanding of the policy and political environment impacting on public health and/or community health 
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline

Desirable:

  • Formal projects and/or improvement training certifications
  • Experience in undertaking research and/or capability building activities in the health or not-for-profit sector
  • Previous experience working in a public healthcare delivery setting and/or a peak body
