About the VEC

At the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) we are not just about elections, we are about enabling all Victorians to actively participate in their democracy.  The VEC conducts State and local council elections and is responsible for promoting public awareness and understanding of electoral issues in the Victorian community.  Our goal is to be change ready and responsive to legislative changes and community expectations in a dynamic and complex operating environment.

About the role

Reporting to the Education Lead, the Democracy Ambassador Program Coordinator will plan and deliver all elements of the Democracy Ambassador (DA) Program through a diversity and inclusion lens. This includes recruiting, training, onboarding, and supporting 20-25 casual DAs from a broad diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences. What you'll bring to the role

  • Project Management and Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in coordinating adult education or community programs, projects and initiatives including effective planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Experience recruiting, onboarding, inducting, training, and coordinating staff by providing leadership, guidance and support to foster a supportive, positive and high performing culture.
  • Problem Solving and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to identify and address program challenges, solve problems, and take initiate to drive program improvements and efficiencies.
