About VALA
The Victorian Applied Learning Association (VALA) is the only professional (not for profit) teachers organisation offering professional development tailored to vocational and applied learning educators. It supports classroom practice through a series of professional development and learning events, exposing educators to current methodologies, innovations and ideas. It brings them in contact with other teachers in this field and provides a community of practice that will enhance and support vocational and applied learning.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with the VALA CEO to initiate, plan and coordinate a range of educational resources and professional learning events for Vocational and Applied Learning educators, both online and face to face, including the coordination of the set-up and pack down of events.
- Help to develop, deliver and evaluate a comprehensive suite of educational resources for the VCE-VM and VPC
- Work with the Office Administrator on the upkeep of member resources.
- Represent the Organisation at network meetings and events.
- Contribute to risk management for operations and strategies.
- Contribute to reports for the committee and members, as directed by the CEO.
- Maintain a high level of promotional and information material relating to events, including designing information for events for our website, newsletters and social media.
- Work with the CEO towards the development of an effective Learning Management System (LMS) (Wild Apricot) for member events and resources.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications, experience, and passion of working in the Vocational and Applied Learning sector.
- A passion to support educators and young people
- Experience in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality professional learning programs for both online and face to face events.
- Ability to use initiative and project manage programs.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including social media.
- Solid organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage own work and time effectively.
- Ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team member.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on tasks in a timely manner in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs and databases.
- Able to occasionally travel within Victoria, including overnight stays.
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Drivers license
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Wild Apricot
- The ability to maintain a timely and engaging social media presence.
