The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) was established in 1973 to address the specific medical needs of Victorian Aboriginal communities. The organisation has expanded steadily over past 40 years to provide a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and social services for our community.
As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting research into the ongoing needs of the community.

About the Opportunity
The Yarning Safe and Strong Social Worker will manage a case load of clients with varying needs and identified issues.
Key Selection Criteria
To be considered for this role you must have the following.
- Hold strong understanding and commitment to Aboriginal communities and their needs.
- Proven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and families experiencing challenges in a respectful, culturally safe, compassionate manner.
- Proven ability to work with a range of people and organisations (including forensic, and dual diagnosis clients) in a non-judgmental and respectful manner.
- Demonstrated understanding of community-based interventions for reducing stress and trauma.
- Proven ability to work with a range of people and organisations (including forensic, and dual diagnosis clients) in a non-judgmental and respectful manner.
- A demonstrated commitment to teamwork and the ability to take appropriate individual and team responsibility for the welfare of clients.
- Experience working with Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander People.
- Diploma in Community Services or related field, or relevant experience.
- Fully approved Covid 19 Vaccinations (including booster)
