Upbeat Health and Wellbeing is a proud Aboriginal, neurodiverse and female-owned and operated mental health and well-being organisation, located in the northern suburbs of Naarm. At UpBeat, our mission is to work alongside our clients by supporting their goals for wellness and recovery achieved by creating positive, safe, healing relationships and experiences informed by UpBeat's multidisciplinary team.

We develop care plans for each individual that we work with, in collaboration with medical professionals, occupational therapists and mental health clinicians. These care plans guide our engagement and interactions with our clients ensuring their safety, clear goals and progress towards being healthier.

UpBeat is currently seeking all healthcare providers to join the Upbeat Team. Such qualifications include:

  • Nurses
  • Mental health clinicians/practitioners
  • Social Workers
  • Mental Health Nurses
  • Disability Support Worker
  • Intervention Worker
  • Mental health support worker
  • Salary is dependent on the qualification obtained.

Wellbeing Guides provide a high-quality level of support, responding to the individual, diverse and intersecting needs of our clients. Under the guidance of a care plan, UpBeat's wellbeing guides provide therapeutic support to our client's in a collaborative and holistic manner. Wellbeing guides are equipped with a diverse and well established interpersonal skill set, flexible in their approach and able to adapt and respond to the changing and varied needs of our client's.

Tasks assigned will include:

  • Responding to the client's emotional and functional needs, the development of their personal skills and goals
  • Ensuring the emotional and physical safety of client's
  • Assisting clients with day to day logistics of life including meal planning, health and hygiene, education and maintenance, cooking, household duties and recreational activities

You will be able to work independently, use clear logical judgement in decision making and be adaptable to working and navigating through challenging environments

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in partnership with NDIS participants to achieve their goals
  • Current drivers licence and own vehicle to transport clients
  • A passion for assisting individuals to improve their quality of life and to reach their potential
  • Working autonomously to provide appropriate levels of support to maintain and improve the client’s level of independence
  • At least one year of experience with individuals to achieve their goals
  • Having the ability to be flexible and adaptable in work style
  • Have the ability to work with complex clients
  • Demonstrate an ability to work in a fast paced and stressful work environment
  • Relevant qualifications in mental health, support work and AOD (desirable but not essential)
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of mental illness (ideally psychosocial disability) and related comorbidities and the associated impact on individuals, carers and the community
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and trauma informed practice
  • Victorian Police Check,
  • Working with Children's Check,
  • CPR
  • First Aid Certificate
  • All relevant COVID vaccinations
  • Strong management and communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box
  • Experience in crisis, incidence response and mental health intervention
  • Experience is working in a neurodiverse environment (desirable)
  • Approaching work with a humanistic, person-centred and holistic lens
