Maximising the Middle is a revolutionary initiative co-founded by the Stronger Smarter Institute (SSI), the Australian Research Alliance for Young People (ARACY), Uniting, and a generous philanthropic organisation. Our collective mission is to drive a community-led movement that empowers children and young people, with a specific focus on those in the 'middle years' (aged 8-14). This groundbreaking initiative addresses a critical gap in service provision and community support for this age group.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you'll collaborate closely with our program lead to raise awareness among schools, services, and the wider community stakeholders in Campbelltown and Penrith.
Role Purpose:
Your mission is to highlight how Maximising the Middle significantly contributes to improving the lives of young people aged 8-14. While legally employed by Uniting, your accountability will be community-facing, providing a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the Campbelltown and Penrith communities.

- Access world-renowned Australian training designed by First Nations educators, empowering leaders to engage middle years young people in learning and self-belief. This training, typically valued at thousands of pounds, will be provided free of charge.
- Youth Voices Research Project:
- Contribute to a cutting-edge research project developed by the highly respected Australian Research Alliance for Children and Young People. Deepen our understanding of the needs and perspectives of young people in Campbelltown and Penrith.
- Innovative Grants Program:
- Play a pivotal role in a grants program supporting ideas generated by young people, ensuring their visions and aspirations come to life.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong determination and passion for improving the lives of young people.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to connect with diverse stakeholders, including schools, community organisations, and youth.
- Experience in promotions, community engagement, or a related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of the local community and its needs is advantageous.
- Work in a culturally and relationally sensitive manner.
- Be determined to find a way in to access decision-makers.
- Be a team player.
- Have a great set of illustrative, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Administrate registrations & other logistical supports for trainings and wider actions.
- Understand and believe in what we are doing.
