About the Role:

This amazing full-time permanent position, based at our beautiful North Parramatta campus with parking available NOW!

We are seeking a strong Investigator to lead a small and highly dedicated team. It is expected you will have strong investigation skills managing sensitive issues in accordance with Uniting's incident reporting, management, and investigation processes.

You have demonstrated experience understanding and interpreting legislation, can manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately, and apply your logical thinking and clear investigative skills in the face of hard situations. You are patient, resilient, a team player, and a leader who is able to develop and maintain positive relationships and culture in the workplace.

As the Lead Investigator your role specifically will:

  • Lead, support, and mentor the team, assist staff to assess and understand risk and their role in active decision making and ownership
  • Demonstrate a total commitment to child safety and promote respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work within statutory and legislative requirements and policies to determine the appropriate course of action for investigations
  • Provide advice and recommendations to management following an investigation 
  • Ensure sensitive conduct-related matters are managed within the legislative framework in a high-volume environment.
  • Interpret and analyse evidence to determine findings in relation to alleged misconduct.
  • Identify themes, trends, and recommendations for continual improvement of standards of service, policies, organisational processes, and practices within the organisation

Qualifications:  

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in investigation work and child protection/child focus

About you:

  • Possess strong interviewing skills relating to sensitive issues (including the ability to interview children of varying ages
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Children's Guardian Act 2019
  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to prepare clear and concise documentation
  • Be able to work to tight timeframes and within relevant delegations of authority
  • Actively engage in reflective practice and a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Solid experience managing teams
  • Passion for social change, social justice, and community cohesion
