About the role:

With your knowledgeable and highly collaborative team of 4 you will manage all month-end and year-end duties, statutory reporting, management reporting, audit and process excellence improvement across all business streams of Uniting. Using your excellent interpersonal skills you will be building trusted relationships with the business stakeholders as you will have oversight of the service streams revenue. You will be the go-to person for technical accounting advice and analysis using your advanced excel skills, exposure to financial modelling would be advantageous.

 Using your management experience you'll ensure your team has the necessary resources and capability to deliver high-quality work, encouraging open communication through regular catch-ups, assess performance, set objectives and establish active development plans.

Additionally you will also

  • Review and understand P&L drivers and summaries commentaries
  • Collaborate with the broader finance management team on initiatives, including year-end reporting and new report development
  • Review Balance sheet reconciliations and ensure no surprises!
  • Approve Journals, Bank payments and cheques
  • Review of acquittals to ensure accuracy and on time submission
  • Act as subject matter expert and coach on all relevant Legislative matters

About you and what you will need

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA/CPA qualified
  • 8 years+ experience and solid experience managing a team 
  • Demonstrated experience of accounting principles, practices, standard, laws and regulations
  • Advanced Excel - Macro level - Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, SQL and Power BI
  • Lead Audits - external, internal and government
  • Knowledge of acquittals reporting and submission
  • Experience working in a multi tiered complex organisation
  • Superb Stakeholder engagement skills and highly developed leadership skills 
  • Energy, passion, and innate desire to cut through the tape to find positive solutions for better outcomes!

Highly desirable

  • Knowledge of Aged Care Act and Retirement Villages Act
  • Post qualification experience gained in Statutory reporting on firms
