About the Role

This is a full time (70 hours per fortnight), closed period contract until June 2025. This role will be based in Brunswick Heads Village in the Byron Shire.

We are seeking three (3) Community Village Caseworkers to support and assist displaced community members from recent floods into long term accommodation within the Brunswick Heads Community Village.

As the Community Village Caseworker your key focus will be to provide early intervention and prevention advice, support and casework/case management of families, children and young people with complex needs living within the Brunswick Heads Community Village. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and immediately take appropriate action.
  • Assess families strengths and needs and assist families to develop goals that area child focused and the safety and well being of children.
  • Use trauma informed frameworks to deliver appropriate support and service
  • Support and provide parents/carers to develop their skills by role modelling, home visits or facilitating parenting workshops
  • Advocate and link families into ongoing support within the community
  • Transport families, children and young people at times that are responsive to their needs (some evenings and before hours when required. 

About you

  • Relevant qualification with Social Services/Community services with relevant experience within the Community Services sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting families, individuals and young people from traumatised backgrounds
  • Provide effective assessment, goal setting and referrals
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection and experience working within the child protection framework
  • Demonstrated experience working Aboriginal children, young people and their families that is culturally appropriate and responsive
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues that impact children and families in Regional and Aboriginal communities
  • Strong computer literacy skills with highly developed communication skills
  • Flexibility to work around families, children and young peoples needs
