We are seeking a Member Support Officer to join our team.
Member Support Officers perform a broad range of duties with a primary focus on assisting members to resolve workplace issues, as well building and maintaining the membership of the union.
The successful applicant must have high level written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to United Voice’s values. Experience in the field of Industrial Relations is not essential, as the right candidate will be someone with the enthusiasm and capacity to develop their skills in this area.
The main responsibilities of a Member Support Officer are:
- Providing industrial advice to members on a range of matters including grievances, employment entitlements, performance and conduct matters and termination of employment;
- Representing members and the union in collective and individual meetings;
- Working with member leaders to mobilise members to resolve workplace issues collectively.
Essential selection criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in different contexts and environments.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with union members and, as required, employer representatives.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- The ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks, including under time constraints.
Desirable selection criteria
- Practical experience in the field of Industrial Relations;
- The ability to interpret and analyse legal information such as legislation, awards or agreements;
- Bachelor degree in Law or Industrial Relations (or equivalent)
- Experience, including as a volunteer, in the union movement or other social justice movements or organisations.

The salary package includes:
- Attractive salary, dependant on experience and skills;
- 6 weeks annual leave;
- 25% annual leave loading;
