Senior Research Consultant - Energy Team

Our Energy Team at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), is seeking to recruit two roles, a Research Consultant and a Senior Research Consultant. Each position would work in a full-time/part-time position on exciting research projects focusing on the decarbonisation of regional, national and global energy systems to limit global temperature rise to 1.5˚C.

About the role

Are you passionate about supporting the energy transition? We are looking for researchers who are capable of modelling and numerical analysis, programming and contributing to high-impact reports.

The two researcher roles are responsible for:

  • conducting thorough and detailed analytical research including qualitative and quantitative research
  • assisting with the preparation of proposals for external funding opportunities
  • providing project management support to other researchers at ISF, and
  • participating in strategic planning for ISF and the Energy Team.

The focus for this position lies on programming and coding energy analysis tools. This includes the ability to use one or more of the following tools considered an advantage:

  • Excel
  • MatLab
  • Python
  • C++
  • Spatial (GIS) systems
  • Electricity network modelling tools
  • Statistical packages (e.g. ‘R’)

The researcher should have the skills / ability to:

  • Select and use a range of appropriate research and modelling methodologies accurately
  • Conduct sound data analysis and synthesis
  • Interpret and visualise data trends in a timely and meaningful manner
  • Work well independently and as part of a team

Remuneration

  • Research Consultant (Level 6) $87,282 to $94,504 salary plus 17% superannuation
  • Senior Research Consultant (Level 7) $96,313 to $106,545 salary plus 17% superannuation

The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation and salary packaging opportunities. This appointment will be on a 2-year fixed term, full time/part-time basis.
