Staff & Community Giving Officer - UNSW Alumni & Engagement

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Alumni and Community Giving, you will deliver a program of opportunities for UNSW staff and community members to enhance the University’s giving framework including Nura Gili, the Indigenous Programs unit offering pathways and support for prospective and current Indigenous students and a variety of medical research including but not limited to cancer research and mental health research. Key responsibilities include:

  • In consultation with the Manager, build on existing strategies to deliver a realistic and sustainable portfolio that builds numbers of donors and overall amount year on year.
  • Manage a varied range of stakeholder relationships
  • Provide stewardship for staff and community donors, act as their key point of contact and take responsibility for drafting communications that are relevant and engaging.
  • Refresh and implement strategies to increase the reach of the UNSW staff giving program
  • Coordinate uni-wide crowdfunding program, including improvement of online platforms
  • Establish and manage student grassroots engagement and giving program, promoting the role of philanthropy at UNSW Sydney

Skills and Requirements:

You can demonstrate your success delivering best practice annual giving and/or community giving programs to achieve expected outcomes. Specific requirements include:

  • Relevant degree and or knowledge gained through education, training and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and influencing
  • High-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to distil complex information
  • High-level organisational skills and proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proven stakeholder management experience, including working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple teams and areas
  • Knowledge on the requirements of the Privacy Act
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
