What we are looking for
An International Program Communications Specialist (Partnerships) with the ability to compel readers to action through the power of story, to join our International Programs team. Reporting directly into the Head of International Programs, you would play an integral role in helping UNICEF Australia reach our ambitious fundraising targets for 2022 and beyond by supporting the Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships teams to maximise earmarked funding to the Directly Supported Programs and engage and retain donors.
Your day will include
- Crafting carefully researched communication materials for high value donors, partners and prospects
- Creating donor reports that provide a story of impact for the supporter, inspiring them to continue on a donor journey with the aim of securing ongoing support
- Through the production of communication material, helping develop new and engaging ways to connect and communicate with current and new supporters
- Developing relationships and working collaboratively with key teams in UNICEF Australia in particular the Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships, Brand and Australian Programs teams, to enable you to most effectively prepare information for reports and funding proposals
- Developing a knowledge of UNICEF’s critical areas of work and capability to accurately translate highly technical information in a compelling and succinct method
- Working closely with the International Programs team members to tell the story of the DSPs most effectively
- Providing immediate communication support in times of emergency
We would like you to have the following skills and experience
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or other relevant area of study, or equivalent working experience
- 5+ years' experience in a communications role with demonstrated experience in report writing and creating compelling proposals, preferably in a fundraising or not-for-profit/for-purpose environment
- Exceptional writing, editing, proof-reading and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a range of different audiences with different levels of expertise
- Proven ability to translate complex information into clear jargon-free language that conveys key messages
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced role, working independently and as part of a team
- Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
- Willingness to work outside of standard business hours in times of need such as disaster response
- An interest in local and international development as well as being part of an organisation who seeks to make a difference in the lives of children around the world
