Are you passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person for a Youth Support Worker position in our Intensive Family Support Service (IFS) team on a 6-month maximum term basis based at Beenleigh.

Ideally you would have significant experience in working with young people aged 12-18 years as a Youth Support Worker or in a similar role.

The primary focus of the Youth Support Worker is to develop and maintain mentoring relationships with child(ren) and young people referred to the Intensive Family Support Service (IFS).

What makes a difference for us?

  • Hold or working towards, a Diploma or higher in Youth and Community Services or related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues that impact on families, including knowledge of family violence, mental health, child protection issues, substance abuse, child and adolescent development, trauma and attachment.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and collaborating with vulnerable families, and stake holder agencies, doing ongoing assessments, and the provision of family support to vulnerable children and families, including an understanding of therapeutic interventions.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, to produce clear, accurate and concise written case notes and reports, balancing both case meetings and pre-set timeframes.
  • Experience working within a case management model; balancing the workload to produce high quality case work including assessments and written work such as reports and case notes within pre-set timeframes.
  • You must hold a current positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
