The Opportunity

Our Family and Disability Services division is currently inviting applications for the position of Occupational Therapist, to be a part of our multidisciplinary Allied Health Unit at UnitingCare – specialising in disability. Family and Disability Services is a respected industry leader and one of Queensland’s largest community service providers.

Reporting to the Allied Health Leader, the Occupational Therapist will be based in our Annerley Office. The role will be accountable for holistically assessing the needs of people we serve, making evidence-based recommendations, and providing the necessary supports to assist them to live as independently as possible.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an inspiring, flexible and values-based specialist with an understanding of the NDIS and its applications in a client centric service model.

In addition, the successful candidate will ideally have:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar position and a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and specialist knowledge within the field of Disability Services.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Hold a current membership with OT Australia.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience in the application of current methodologies in the field of Occupational Therapy for individuals with a disability.
  • Appropriately qualified to work in the area of major home modifications and vehicle modifications, as outlined by the NDIS.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of capacity building and assistive technology prescription.
  • Demonstrate understanding of person centred practice and contemporary approaches to service design and delivery.
  • Effective written communication skills including assessment report writing for various funding bodies, contributing to Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
  • A current Positive Notice from Disability Services, willingness to undergo a “Working with Children Check” and a Suitability Card (Blue Card) prior to commencing employment; and
  • Have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety and You".
  • Hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence.
