International Program Manager

Celebrating our 60th year in 2019, Baptist World Aid Australia (BWAA) partners with like-minded agencies overseas to empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty, challenge injustice and build resilience. We partner with Christians and churches in Australia, particularly those from the Baptist movement, in generous giving, ethical consumption, courageous advocacy and faithful prayer in order to achieve justice for people living in poverty. In 2018 our work directly benefited over 332,391 people through our community development and disaster relief programs.

The International Programs (IP) team is looking for a highly capable leader with experience in the community development and humanitarian sector, to manage Transform Aid International (TAI)’s program partnerships and project coordination. Reporting to the Director of International Programs and working in a collaborative team of highly competent individuals, in this role you will support the implementation of programs towards alignment with TAI strategy, target country ‘statements of intent’, policy and procedures, and ensuring compliance with ACFID Code of Conduct and DFAT accreditation standards.

You will participate in IP strategy development, stakeholder liaison, network and alliance engagement, contribute to relevant sector events and internal representation of the IP department.

Key Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications: post-graduate degree in International Development, Social Change, International Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Geography or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 5 years international development experience
  • A minimum of 3 years management experience, including ability to mentor and direct staff; plan, organise, prioritise and implement work flow to meet departmental objectives, work independently, be proactive, and exercise maturity and good judgment
  • Experience in the community development and humanitarian sector in fundraising strategy and product development,
  • Ability to analyse and systematically compile technical and statistical information for fundraising product design and strategy.
  • Overseas travel in accordance with TAI travel policy
  • Experience with church-based aid and development
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, administer and control budgets
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment in critical networking, relationship building and partnerships, especially in the Australian NGO and development sector
  • An understanding of compliance issues and requirements in the community development sector specifically ACFID and DFAT accreditation,
  • High standard of written and spoken English, with experience in writing grant applications
