ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll be joining an organisation that provides an incredibly wide variety of work across a range of community programs, events and classes which enrich the lives of those who participate.

In this role you will be assembling and leading a small team of multidisciplinary community development professionals. You will be supported by an experienced and committed Board of Management and you will work alongside our staff and community to oversee, design, develop, implement and evaluate a full range of relevant community development activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage the design, implementation and evaluation of all Torquay Community House programs against the Victorian Government’s Neighbourhood House Co-ordination (NHCP) Guidelines.
  • Review current performance and work with the Board of Management to strengthen and build the reputation and capacity of Torquay House to deliver its objectives.
  • Actively manage, prepare for and participate in professional development as required by the Board of Management including performance appraisal processes and development including performance and appraisal processes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement and achievement of excellence in service delivery.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL REQUIRE:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Social Sciences, a related discipline and/or extensive relevant experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated experience in contemporary community development practice, a sound knowledge of social justice principles, cultural safety and awareness strategies, including an understanding of structural inequality and inequity and its impact on communities.
  • The ability to lead, manage and work collaboratively to support staff and volunteers.
