Founded in 1970, the Ted Noffs Foundation is a nationwide organisation, which offers young people the support and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Noffs is looking for a Youth Worker to work within our Street University Liverpool. The Street University is an innovative youth driven space that engages at risk young people through a range of educational, recreational, cultural and arts-based programs. The Street University's focus is assisting marginalised young people who do not traditionally engage with mainstream services.The Youth Worker will provide support within this environment.
Responsibilities and duties include:
- Establish and build rapport with young people to plan and conduct programs focused on their specific needs.
- Organising and supervising group activities and community based projects to engage young people including music, sport, art, gardening, homework support, life skills, drama and business.
- Capacity to collaborate with community networks to identify and support young people at risk.
- Work closely with the senior team members to coordinate and provide creative engagement approaches for disadvantage young people.
- Maintain all relevant administration duties including accurate documentation, report writing and client information into an internal database on a daily basis.
- Complete reports as required including updating the team calendar, monthly statistics and contribute towards funding reports.
- Work in partnership with professionals from other organisations that support young people such as social care, health, police, education etc.
- Monitor, coach and support individuals and encourage greater social inclusion.
- Recruiting, training and managing volunteers and support workers.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- 2 years experience and/or demonstrated ability in working with young people at risk and culturally and linguistic diverse communities.
- Highly developed interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Have current drivers license.
- Understanding and Knowledge of issues experienced by young people
- Ability to maintain client records in database including data reporting and monthly, quarterly reporting requirements.
- Establish partnerships with key stakeholders, networks and other organisations and service providers
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current Drivers' Licence
- Ability or willing to drive a 12 seater van
- Ability to both take initiative and direction.
- Commitment to the Noffs Foundation model of practice and ethical practice.
