About Take 3 For the Sea

We are a leading not-for-profit organisation in sustainability, with a mission to reduce global plastic pollution in the ocean through education and action. Take 3 believes in simple actions to address big problems - actions that reduce plastic pollution and encourage transition to a circular economy.

We lead with a simple message and call to action: Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere and you have made a difference. Since 2009, we have developed and delivered education programs to communities across Australia and the globe.

The Opportunity

Take 3 is rapidly scaling and we are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to join our passionate team on this journey to solve the crisis of plastic in our oceans.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage all daily accounting transactions within Xero.
• Be responsible for all transactions relating to accounts payable/receivable to ensure the organisation receives timely payment, and creditors are paid in accordance with their agreed terms.
• Be responsible for all tasks relating to payroll, including preparing payroll data to ensure employees are paid correctly and on time, and ensuring compliance with superannuation and payroll tax
• Assist our external Accountants and Auditors with the preparation of annual financial statements and associated tax returns.
• Manage month-end closings, BAS and PAYG lodgements
• Pull together ad hoc financial data and reports to assist in decision making, compliance and reporting
• Assist in tracking and reporting of costs associated with specific projects.

About you:

An experienced bookkeeper who is performance-driven, hard-working, organised and task orientated. You are passionate about what you do and take pride in your work. You are always looking for ways to do things better and to challenge the status quo. Proven experience within not-for profit would be great but not mandatory and proficiency in using Xero is a requirement.
