About the opportunity

The dynamic Donor Development Team based in Sydney’s brand new Territorial Headquarters (265 Chalmers Street, Redfern) is seeking an experienced and motivated Trusts and Foundations Grant Writer who will support the team with grant opportunities. Engaging with key stakeholders to grow Trust and Foundation income, this role is a vital and strategic one. The aim of this position is to increase the fundraising capacity across the territory (NSW, ACT and QLD). Reporting to the Development Director, this role will suit a professional with strong written expression and interpersonal skills.

Essential

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • A passionate commitment to social justice
  • Undergraduate qualifications in a related discipline and demonstrated experience in writing grants and T& F submission processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing successful funding applications, grants and submissions.
  • Facilitation and coordination of personnel to formulate quality, timely responses and submissions
  • Understanding of corporate and private T&F and philanthropy
  • Experience in community services (highly regarded)
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Self-starter, demonstrated to work autonomously

Desirable:

  • Background in Journalism/Communication, Research, Consulting or other professions that have a high standard of preparing written communication in form of proposals, presentations and reports
  • Experience in working for a large organisation or corporation, managing multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding the mission and ministry aspects of The Salvation Army
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing
