The Salvation Army Dooralong Transformation Centre is a residential addictions recovery service for men and women operating under a modified therapeutic communities structure and is located approx. 25 km from Wyong – Central Coast NSW.

The Salvation Army’s values are at the centre of everything we do, this is an opportunity for an experienced and passionate Maintenance Worker with a focus on best client experiences to join our team on a permanent full time basis. Your role as maintenance worker is to assist with the on-going maintenance across our business.

About the role

The successful applicant will;

  • Under the direction of the Supervisor provide services to maintain premises and property in a satisfactory condition. These tasks may include
    • Painting and patching
    • Basic carpentry
    • Basic plumbing
    • Replacing light bulbs
    • Providing advice on the need to call in skilled tradesmen.
  • Implement any updates and changes in maintenance processes
  • Monitor site and building condition through regular site reporting processes
  • In consultation with your Supervisor coordinate and supervise trade and service contractors and other workers as required and ensure the work is completed as per service agreements and WH&S obligations
  • Work alongside people who are currently participating in program and who reside at this centre.

Skills and experience

  • Experience and/or qualifications in property repairs and maintenance or relevant trades
  • Team player, flexible with a positive attitude
  • Able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation.
  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Sound communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact positively with a variety of people.
  • At least two years in recovery, if applicable
