About Us

The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 program consists of a team of staff and volunteers based in the City of Melbourne, who are passionate about working with those who live on the city fringes to address issues of homelessness or risks related to homelessness, mental health issues, addiction or social poverty. Connecting with many people each day, the program works to achieve positive outcomes for clients.

The Twilight Cafe’s primary purpose is about building relationships and maintaining a safe place for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Cafe sees a range of different people accessing the service, including people who suffer from drug and alcohol addictions, mental health and general health issues, homelessness and asylum seekers. The Twilight Cafe is open to everyone, and is there to provide support and a sense of community to anyone in need. Through programs including the Twilight Cafe, Melbourne Project 614 offers crisis support and intervention, information, practical assistance and importantly, ongoing support for people in crisis.

The Twilight Cafe program will build upon the existing daytime Magpie Nest Day Cafe and Night Cafe operation by providing a welcoming, safe and inclusive place for men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the City of Melbourne.
