We have a one-year full-time contract opportunity for a technically capable, analytical and meticulous Program Manager based in Blackburn to lead the delivery of an IT Portfolio of projects.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Portfolio Delivery Assurance you will be an integral member of a highly effective and established Enterprise Management Office providing project and strategy management for large-scale change or business initiatives to support the mission of The Salvation Army.

As Program Manager, you will be responsible to ensure a portfolio of projects and initiatives are managed as a Program in line with strategic and operational outcomes, and project end-to-end processes are aligned with best practice program and project management techniques.

The focus of the role is to:

  • Define, manage and deliver program processes in line with scope, objectives, budget, schedule, risk and resources;
  • Establish and manage effective program controls to deliver established outcomes such as project plans, scope, schedule, controls and risk management in line with operational outcomes;
  • Setup and manage all activities of the program life-cycle ensuring outcomes are in line with key program deliverables and parameters;
  • Oversee deliverables and plans with other delivery teams ensuring milestones are clearly understood and measures for tracking performance clearly established;
  • Manage cross functional program activities throughout all phases of the project life-cycle;
  • Develop and manage change management strategy and plans;
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and variation tracking
  • Ensure technical feasibility;
  • Adhere to The Salvation Army Project Policy, related procedures and methodology.

Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated work history as a Program Manager or Senior Project Manager accomplished in the delivery of complex cross-functional IT projects, with tertiary qualifications in business or related field highly regarded.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Professional project management qualifications / certification i.e. PRINCE2, Scrum, Agile, Lean Sigma;
  • Experience managing project teams, project design and plans;
  • Strong change management skills and the ability to set direction;
  • Proficient financial acumen required to manage budgetary and resourcing constraints;
  • Collaborative stakeholder relationship management skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Attention to detail.
