The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support people of all ages with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role

We are a team of value-driven and proactive Intake & Assessment Workers looking for a new teammate. You will work in collaboration with other dynamic professionals to ensure people are supported in line with the Trauma-Informed Care principles.

You will successfully:

  • Support the Team Leader to engage with service users within Trauma-Informed Frameworks & participate in the Intake & Assessment process
  • Support individuals to encourage self-determination and provide person-centred care
  • Update and maintain case notes and care plans in coordination with case management
  • Collaborate with your colleagues to address potential high-risk situations and minimise any hazards
  • Identify service gaps and risks and make recommendations for service delivery improvements to the Team Leader
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, including practical caring tasks such as cleaning rooms, making beds, preparing laundry and preparing premade meals and beverages

This is a service-based casual position that includes 24 hour shift work (days, afternoon, nights and weekends) we require you to be available to cover these shifts times and days. This role is located close to Central Railway in Surry Hills, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance to SCHADS Crisis 1.

What you have

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent required
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence
  • Previous or current experience working in a community service setting, particularly with those experiencing homelessness is desirable
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • First Aid / CPR Certification required (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate desirable
  • Valid NSW Employee Working with Children Check
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
