About the Role:

We currently have a permanent full time position for a Funeral Planner to join our Salvos Funerals team based out of our Redfern, NSW office. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, Funeral Services the successful candidate will lead and demonstrate the mission, vision, values and beliefs of The Salvation Army.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide pastoral support to family, staff and clients within a funeral context
• Demonstrates a non-judgmental approach to all people
• Facilitate spiritual and networking support to families, staff & clients of other faiths as the opportunity presents
• Make arrangements for the burial or cremation ceremony
• Confirm the verification of a Medical Certificate or obtain a Coroner's Certificate
• Register the death and obtain a Death Certificate
• Organise all notices of the death and funeral arrangements in the media
• Complete all general administration work associated with Salvos Funerals
• Coordinate the crew and supporting requirements on the day of funeral
• Maintain, care and clean equipment/ items of capital
• Assist with carrying and lowering coffins
• Continue to develop and spread the work/ this initiative amongst the Australian public - residents, staff, clients, family members and volunteers

• A drivers licence with a good driving record
• Physical strength for manual handling
• Ability to work according to fixed procedures and legal requirements
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and extended hours
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Good practical and organisational skills
• An ability to put people at ease
