Moneycare is The Salvation Army's national financial counselling and financial capability program.  It is one of the largest and long-running such programs in Australia. Our evidence-based outcomes measurement process shows that we have a real impact on the lives of the people who come to us seeking assistance through materially improved mental health, personal well-being and financial resilience, including financial hardship alleviation. Moneycare has a focus on holistic, strengths-based services that are professional, caring, and missional.We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Financial Counsellor to provide financial counselling for people who are in financial difficulty or hardship, or are wishing to avoid such situations, to develop and implement community member centred case plans and develop options that alleviate financial hardship, develop financial resilience, improve mental health and improve personal wellbeing.

This is a full-time position located in Bundamba, QLD.

You will successfully

  • Effective relationships are established with community members that encourage self-determination and participation
  • Service delivery is provided in accordance with The Salvation Army standards and procedures and The Salvation Army Practice Framework
  • Ongoing assessment is made of community member issues, needs and circumstances from initial contact to exit
  • Individual casework plans are developed in collaboration with community members and include a range of interventions that address their needs or goals
  • Community members are assisted to access support services and establish community supports
  • Progress and outcomes of individual case plans are regularly monitored and reviewed

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.

You will have

  • Level 5, hold the Diploma of Financial Counselling and are an accredited member of a state based recognised financial counselling association.
  • Level 4, hold the Diploma of Financial Counselling, and are working towards being an accredited member of a state based recognised financial counselling association.
  • Level 3, are working towards completing the Diploma of Financial Counselling in a timely manner, or are willing to enrol with a recognised registered training organisation and work towards completing the Diploma of Financial Counselling in a timely manner
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment and/or a good understanding of issues that can cause financial hardship and financial exclusion
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working within a Windows Office environment
  • Relevant state Working with Children Check is required
  • Drivers licence (if travel required)
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
