About the role

We are seeking a values--driven Engagement Advisor who will develop and implement communication and engagement strategy for Policy Research and Social Justice (PRSJ). Develop, produce and/or manage communication and engagement materials, resources, and forums/events that suit and engage diverse target audiences. Improve the visibility for the wider TSA of the research, social policy, skills, capabilities and knowledge of specialist teams within PRSJ.

You will successfully:

  • In consultation with the PRSJ leadership team, develop, implement and review the department's communication and engagement strategy
  • Design, produce and/or manage appropriate communication materials, contents and resources within team's budget and agreed timeframe in formats that will suit target audience
  • Communicate PRSJ news, findings, and updates to key stakeholders in various mediums/platforms in timely manner to promote the work of PRSJ and encourage the use of materials, resources and findings produced by ROM and PRSJ
  • Support intranet/Salvo Central contents and provide support to Department Assistant in managing PRSJ intranet
  • Review and edit verbal and written publications
  • Develop and organise forum/events within team's budget to promote the work of the team, utilisation of findings, and strengthen ROM and Department's engagement with key stakeholders
  • Develop healthy working relationship with key stakeholders to support the successful implementation of the communication and engagement strategy through timely production of communication materials and resources, and effective management of PRSJ events/forums
  • Ensure confidential and sensitive data is handled with integrity and without any breaches, adhering to TSA data and privacy guidelines and relevant legislations

This is a permanent, full-time position, open to both Blackburn, VIC and Redfern, NSW locations. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Hay Level 14.

must haves

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing and/or research and science fields
  • At least 2 years' experience in producing communication materials within research/evaluation fields
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret scientific research, evaluation and statistical findings and accurately translate them into non-scientific and lay-person language
  • Experience in creating and editing scientific/research contents for publication to non-researcher and demonstrated ability to translate research/evaluation and statistical findings and methods for non-researcher/public consumption
