The Salvation Army Brunswick has been engaged with the local community since its establishment in 1883, providing practical, social and spiritual support and assistance. We currently have a team of professional staff are from a variety of disciplines providing a suite of diverse, complimentary programs that are available to all people without discrimination.

About the role:

The Community Centre Support Worker is an active member of the Brunswick Salvos team, contributing to and working across the varied operations of the Community Centre and programs.

This is a part time (25 hours per week) position based at our Community Centre at Albert Street, Brunswick, with the primary purpose being:

  • To contribute to the smooth day to day operation of Brunswick Salvos Community Centre
  • To promote and support positive lifestyle change for clients attending the Community Centre
  • Role model socially acceptable behaviours
  • Provide opportunities for clients to connect and participate in community

The successful application for this role will need:

  • Diploma Community Services or other related welfare discipline; or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • A sound knowledge of theory and effects of structural disadvantage
  • Work effectively with people who exhibit multiple / compounded service needs and / or are chronically disadvantaged
  • Understands and implements appropriate procedures and strategies to deal with crisis situations
  • Is resilient
  • Is proactive and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal
  • Use technology and software applications to complete administrative tasks
  • Reflects the mission and values of The Salvation Army
