THE ORGANISATION
The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand Ltd (TSANZ) is a health promotion charity whose mission is to lead, support and enable all health workers and researchers who aim to prevent, cure, and relieve the burden, disability and mortality caused by respiratory conditions.
The TSANZ is the only Peak Body in Australia that represents all health professionals working in all fields of respiratory health and has a membership base of over 1,800 individuals.
The TSANZ is a leading provider of evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of respiratory conditions in Australia and New Zealand, undertakes professional education and training, is responsible for significant research administration, and coordinates an accredited respiratory laboratory program.
THE ROLE
The Memberships Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of the member journey including managing applications, dealing with member queries, fortnightly e-news and supporting the Board and Branch election processes and working with Branch Executives and Special Interest Groups to ensure effective communication with their members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Responsibility for all membership enquires and ensuring all interactions with members are positive, professional and encourage new or continuing membership
- Act as the primary point of contact for Special Interest Group Convenors and Branch Presidents working to:
- Achieve effective communications with their members.
- Manage appointment terms and ensure compliance with the Constitution, By-laws, policies and procedures
- Board Secretariat
- Manage appointment terms and ensure compliance with the Constitution, By-laws, policies and procedures
- Secretariat support for board meetings including arranging travel and accommodation for directors, catering for meetings and minutes of meetings
- Review and manage all member applications and renewals
- Review and manage all partner membership renewals
- Responsibility for management of member communications including:
- Co-ordinate the writing and production of the fortnightly e-news
- Keep members and other key stakeholders informed by using the website and other e-communication strategies
- Other duties include reporting and analysis of membership data, maintaining the membership database and website and support to other TSANZ committees and working groups as required.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE;
Education & Experience
- A recognised diploma or degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in membership, marketing or communications, project management and administration.
- Experience working in a membership organisation, preferably in the health sector.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational, planning, and multi-tasking skills along with the ability to coordinate competing priorities.
- Experience in providing secretariat support to Executive Committees.
- Significant experience in managing stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes.
Skills & Competencies

- The ability to multi-task, excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and CRMs.
- Proficient in maintain websites using WordPress.
