Moving into our 70th year of operation Sylvanvale Foundation supports over 750 children and adults from a range of cultural backgrounds to live and participate in their community. Sylvanvale provides a range of different services to our customers across Sydney with over 600 employees.
About the Role:
The roster coordinator is responsible for allocating support workers with the appropriate skills, knowledge and interpersonal style to customers using RITEQ, while maintaining efficiency and cost effectiveness of resource utilisation and meeting compliance requirements.
This position involves liaising with frontline staff when calling in sick and arranging backfill coverage through our casual pool of staff and preferred agency suppliers. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure accurate and timely allocation of staff across services in metropolitan and regional Sydney.
Mandatory requirements
- At least 2 years experience coordinating a team of shift workers in a disability, health, agency, government or call centre environment
- Demonstrated budgeting skills and the capacity to interpret financial and output/outcome performance data
- Current Unrestricted Class C NSW drivers license
- Current WWC clearance
- A capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job, including driving and remaining in a seated position to perform tasks
Essential Experience & Knowledge

- An excellent telephone manner and ability to build rapport and coordinate a diverse work team
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and high level interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work in a busy and challenging environment
- Demonstrated experience using a variety of Rostering and/or Time and Attendance systems
- Able to work independently, organise competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Accurate report writing skills with the ability to produce quality reports and submissions.
- Computer literate - able to use standard Microsoft packages: Access, Excel & Word
- Understanding of disability services industry or other NGO industry and other relevant legislation, such as the Disability Service Standards
- Experience in award interpretation and understanding how to apply these when rostering in 24/7 environments.
