The Sunrise Project is searching for an experienced Digital Campaigner who can support implementing strategies to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

With programs in Australia, Europe and the US, we’re focussed on stopping major new fossil fuel projects, accelerating the transition to 100% renewable energy in Australia, and shifting the global finance sector out of fossil fuels.

About you:

You’re a creative and strategic thinker with an unstoppable hunger for climate justice. You’ve got a track record of delivering digital communications that inspire people to change the world and have a strong understanding of how compelling communications plays in delivering social change.

You have a knack for lightning-speed problem solving, implementing ideas on the fly, with solid project management skills and great attention to detail. You’re a skilled writer, story teller and visual communicator who also loves digging into the data to understand what’s driving target audiences to act.

You’re a natural collaborator who is thrives on supporting social movements to achieve common goals. You’re confident but don’t bring a big ego to your work and are skilled at supporting others to lead.

Key responsibilities:

The role of the Energy Transition Digital Campaigner ensures all campaign communications online are focused on shifting Australia beyond polluting energy towards 100% renewable power. You will play a lead role in conceiving and deploying digital strategies and tactics that resonate with target audiences.

The role drives innovation, with new digital ideas and plans across all elements of the campaigns, continuing to support the rapid growth of campaign digital channels while creating new digital assets. Reporting to the Energy Transition Senior Campaigner, the role provides fundamental support to a dynamic network of partners, and ensures digital efforts reach and mobilise the most people possible to have the biggest impact.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

  • Developing and delivering digital campaign strategies and tactics that that support achieving campaign goals and objectives
  • Producing communications materials for a variety of campaign tactics online and IRL
  • Manage relationships with external digital and content consultants
  • Management of the campaign website and social media channels
  • Scanning of daily news media for sharing with campaign network
  • Supporting program partners and other stakeholders to implement coordinated digital strategies and tactics
  • Ensuring program staff and partner organisations are kept up to date with shifts in technology, policy and audience behaviour to inform campaign strategy development and tactical deployment

Required skills and experience:

  • At least three years’ experience delivering digital campaigns that have helped to achieve real world change
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategies and tactics across a range of digital tools, such as content management systems, email, social media, SEO and SEM
  • Demonstrated success in growing support for campaigns online using paid and organic methods
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and visual communications skills, including graphic design skills
  • Solid experience managing and analysing data to inform campaign strategies and rapid response campaigning
  • Ability to stay abreast of a rapidly shifting and highly contested policy and regulatory environment
  • A deep passion for and demonstrated commitment to ambitious action on climate change

Location:

Preferred location is Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. People based in regional areas also strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary:

  • The salary range is $76,500 – 91,800 p.a. plus superannuation, depending on experience.
