    Our Service:

    The Head to Health service is a brand new service for adults in Western Sydney seeking emotional wellbeing and mental health support. The service provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support and a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress.

    Allowing low risk individuals to identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department and gaining access support from trained mental health professional within their community, outside a clinical setting.

    Role Overview:

    • To build resilience and enhance the wellbeing of families and carers of people living with mental health issues
    • Provide holistic support to families and carers that is person centred, community oriented, respectful and sensitive
    • Coordinate and deliver mental health education for families and carers
    • Encourage families/carers involvement in the development strategies which enhance choice, dignity, and independence of the person under families/carers
    • Promote the dignity and rights of families and carers of people with a mental health issues, both within the service and in the wider community.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of a Cert IV/Diploma in mental health/community services related discipline (ideally a relevant completed Degree)
    • In- depth understanding of issues pertaining to mental illness/or disabilities and their impact on individuals, families and communities.
    • Background knowledge and understanding of drugs, alcohol and illicit drug use impacting upon the health of individuals and families
    • The ability to work autonomously, under supervision and as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated effective listening, empathy and communication skills
    • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills, as well as the ability to work to time frames, meet deadlines, and work in challenging situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with families, carers, government agencies and community services
    • Good computer skills
    • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
    • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance 
    • Current Driver's license
