Stretch-A-Family (SAF)are seeking Therapeutic Residential Support Workers for an exciting new Out-Of-Home-Care program launching in Campsie. Staff recruited for this project will be involved in all aspects of the implementation of the program and help ensure its success.

Residential Support Workers are responsible for a wide range of professional duties and must demonstrate personal competence in promoting a safe, caring, stimulating and healthy environment for children and young people in statutory care.

SAF also have a focus on personal development and you will be provided with comprehensive training including; Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, SAF Therapeutic Care Practice Framework and a range of other training opportunities.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Youth Work, Welfare or Community Services accompanied by at least two years practical experience
  • Experience providing care to young people within a residential program
  • Experience working with adolescents who have challenging behaviours
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Highly developed computer and report writing skills
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Drivers’ Licence

It is also a requirement of SAF that all employees hold a current Police Check and Working With Children Check

Desirable

  • Experience working with behavioural management plans and delivering therapeutic services
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care

We are a trauma informed agency that provides therapeutic care - Foster Care and Residential Care for 0 - 18 year olds. We have three residential programs and a foster care program all based in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
