  • Based at Rendu House in Campbelltown, NSW; involves travel to areas within South Western Sydney
  • Nurses Award, pay structure is based on the Public Health System Nurses & Midwives' (State) Award 2015 . Hourly rates range from $31.58 to $44.34 dependent on qualifications and experience.

About the Service

Rendu House Drug and Alcohol Services is committed to minimising the harm related to drug and alcohol use and other associated issues and is part of the St Vincent de Paul NSW Support Services Drug and Alcohol Network.

The Role

The Registered Nurse's primary duty is to provide onsite and offsite healthcare support for clients of the Rendu House Drug and Alcohol Services . The role will also assist in developing healthcare systems and referral pathways between Primary Healthcare services including General Practitioners and Rendu House Drug and Alcohol Services staff. Providing healthcare education and information sessions to Rendu House staff and clients is also part of this role.

This role will report to the Program Manager - Rendu House.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • Registered General Nurse with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a generalist setting;
  • Experience working in a drug and alcohol or mental health setting or demonstrated experience working with clients who have complex support needs (e.g. co-occuring drug and alcohol issues and mental health concern, homelessness or contact with criminal justice system);
  • Demonstrated understanding of drug and alcohol dependency / mental health concern;
  • Capacity to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, staff, management and external agencies;
  • Knowledge of and an ability to access, a range of relevant healthcare resources;
  • Experience with networking, liason or developing partnerships with health care providers or GPs;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct self in a professional, ethical and non-judgmental manner;
  • Basic computer literacy skills including experience in computerised data collection;
  • A current, unencumbered Drivers Licence;
  • Willingness to work within the values and ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and NSW Support Services
