A little bit about us

For over 165 years we have been in Victoria assisting people through the challenges of poverty and exclusion address suffering, advocating against inequality and promoting human dignity and self-determination.

Overall, St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria has many arms and services. These include soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria, which provides a range of services and programs for people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and disadvantage. This includes crisis accommodation, drug and alcohol dependency programs, and housing.

The Marketing team is responsible for operational coordination of communication and strategic marketing campaigns to drive engagement.

A little about the Role

The Event Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting the Society’s fundraising and advocacy events in the Vinnies calendar, including our very own highly anticipated event the CEO Sleepout. The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a key event where business and community leaders experience what it’s like to ‘sleep rough’ for the night to raise awareness and funds for Vinnies services. This key event raises over $1,000,000 annually.  

This is an opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to use their event management expertise to ensure all Society events are well supported and planned to ensure our participants experience is second to none.

We are looking for someone who can work confidently and autonomously to be a key contact and custodian for our brand.

A little bit about you

You are currently working in a similar role and have experience in an event management and/or community focused role requiring successful and outcome focused stakeholder engagement, ideally within a not-for-profit environment. You are known for being responsive, approachable, and service oriented, you will confidently build connections with your key stakeholders and create robust working relationships that add value to Society run events.

You will be enthusiastic, highly organised, detail orientated and driven by a commitment to delivering exceptional results. You will bring a "hands on" approach and be a proactive operator who thrives on developing relationships to achieve high stakeholder engagement.

More specifically you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience prioritising and coordinating multiple events concurrently and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • High level interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with and establish strong working relationships with the community, business leaders and internal teams
  • Demonstrated flexible, energetic and self-motivated approach to planning and implementing work schedule to meet goals and timelines;
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Excel
  • Excellent project management skills
