Are you looking to manage, lead and deliver a community-based preschool of excellence that champions children and supports families? St Stephen’s Preschool Kindergarten is seeking a Director/Nominated Supervisor for a full time position commencing in Term 1, 2024.
At St. Stephen's Preschool, we're passionate about providing high-quality early childhood education within a Christian environment where every child's potential is valued. The 50-place not-for-profit preschool is proudly rated exceeding under the National Quality Standards and is managed by a church, parent and community member Board.
The preschool operates 8:30am – 4pm during school terms for children aged 3-5 years.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- the daily management of the preschool, including staff, facilities, curriculum, policies and procedures
- providing inspiring and caring leadership and management to teachers, educators and staff regarding all aspects of the operation of the Preschool in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures
- overseeing financial operations and management of the preschool, presenting budgets and plans for future financial stability in consultation with the Board
- developing the preschool’s Christian Education Program within the overarching framework of the EYLF
- developing collaborative relationships with children, families and the local community
- ensuring the preschool is compliant with relevant laws and educational frameworks governing early childhood education and care, including the EYLF, NQS and Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
- managing enrolments and waitlists
- pursuing activities to promote a collaborative partnership and relationship with the St Stephen’s Normanhurst Parish Church and its ministries.
- maintaining effective communication channels with key stakeholders including families, staff, Board, local service providers, St Stephen’s Church and the wider community.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- ACECQA approved degree in Early Childhood Education
- First Aid Certificate (including asthma and anaphylaxis management)
- ACECQA approved Child Protection training
- Current NSW Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
- Legal right to work in Australia
Experience
- Director/educational leadership experience within a preschool setting
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an early childhood education setting
- Extensive understanding of the Early Years Learning and National Quality Frameworks
- Proven ability in all areas of administrative procedure, curriculum development, parent and community liaison, staff professional development, early childhood education compliance and legislation

- Committed to the provision of high-quality preschool education
- Ability to lead, manage, mentor and supervise a team of teachers and educators (14 in the team)
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and team development skills.
- Ability to lead the team in pedagogical matters including curriculum planning and professional development
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures.
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, CCMS system, Educa or similar).
- Ability to set and manage budgets, forecast and work collaboratively with administrative staff members
- Ability to create a safe and supportive environment for the preschool’s children, staff and parent community with a commitment to continuous improvement.
