Campaign Manager - Festival of Dangerous Ideas

We are seeking a proactive and innovative Campaign Manager to promote the Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI). Assistance with other campaigns may be required as needed, but the main responsibility will be the FODI campaign.

Presented by The Ethics Centre, FODI is Australia’s original provocative ideas festival. It brings to light important conversations that push the boundaries of conventional thought and presents a line-up of international and local thinkers and culture creators, inviting the public to immerse themselves in ideas and conversations that encourage debate and critical thinking. Alongside ticketed talks, the Festival presents disruptive and experiential art and theatre experiences.

In this role, you will be developing, planning, implementing and optimising our marketing campaign strategies for FODI and other initiatives, ensuring brand, campaign and revenue targets are achieved, as well as preparing reporting on campaign activity to implement best practice learnings.

To ensure success, you will need excellent knowledge of marketing, campaign and brand strategies with a strong understanding of the digital environment. An outstanding Campaign Manager will be someone who uses data and insights to deliver increased brand awareness and achieve revenue targets. You will be a team player, highly motivated, agile and will work closely with the content team in the rollout of campaigns across channels.

This role sits within the Engagement portfolio which covers marketing and communications activity across The Ethics Centre and its various departments and initiatives. Initiatives range from education services to consulting services across industries. The Engagement portfolio leads all content creation and public programs including The Ethics of series, Intelligence Squared (IQ2) debates and FODI.

Key accountabilities

  • Implementing branding, advertising, promotional and sales campaigns for FODI, as well as fundraising, membership programs and other free and ticketed events and programs as needed.
  • Increasing brand awareness and achieving sales targets through innovative campaigns that include paid, earned and owned strategies.
  • Collaborating with the content team for dynamic content and synchronised digital-first campaigns.
  • Tracking campaign budgets and providing reporting as needed.
  • Preparing marketing and campaign briefs for internal and external use, that include detailed budgets and timelines.
  • Briefing external agencies and freelancers.
  • Monitoring and assessing campaigns, and measuring the ROI of campaigns.
  • Preparing and presenting campaign reports to senior management.
  • Ensuring external facing channels and brand representation is up to date and working optimally.
  • Writing copy for promotional purposes, landing pages and campaigns.
  • In consultation with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the content team, general website updates and enhancements, e.g., new landing pages and calls-to-action placement, lead generation.
  • Keeping informed of marketing and media strategies and trends.
  • Assisting with search engine optimisation (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) efforts for website and content as required.
  • Working with the Marketing and Communications Manager and Head of Fundraising and Development to obtain marketing and media partnership opportunities.

Key working relationships

The Campaign Manager reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager. The role will involve frequent collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the organisation and will work closely with the Marketing and Content Coordinator.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or communication is a must.
  • At least five years’ experience in a campaign management role or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with campaigns to sell tickets to general public events/ B2C marketing.
  • Be digitally savvy, with a digital-first approach to marketing and communications strategy.
  • Proficiency in electronic marketing automation software and website content management systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing strategies, channels, and branding.
  • Superb communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time, project management and organisational abilities.
  • Understanding of current marketing trends.
  • Experience of managing integrated, end-to-end campaigns.
  • Sound knowledge of SEO and SEM best practice, including proficiency with google analytics and adwords.
  • The ability to successfully manage multiple campaigns running at the same time.
  • An interest in ethics.
  • Be a flexible team player.

  • Salary $93K on a full-time annualised basis, pro-rated for a 9-month contract term, plus 10% superannuation
