Spinal Life Australia is a non-profit organisation that provides expert knowledge, specialist therapies and supports tailored for people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities (permanent and temporary). We have grown from a small membership group established in 1960 into the largest provider of Spinal Cord Injury supports providing services throughout Queensland.

The Allied Health Service Practice Manager is responsible for allied health service delivery across Queensland. The position involves supervising and leading of a team of allied health professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Registered Nurses. The role will also be responsible for monitoring budgets, managing the income and expenditure of the service effectively and ensuring effective systems and procedures are in place for all aspects of the allied health business using a practice management framework. The position will lead and manage the Allied Health Team and develop Spinal Life Australia’s allied health business, ensuring the service remains financially sustainable while delivering exceptional customer service.
You will:
Manage and deliver specialist clinical Allied Health services to clients of Spinal Life Australia through:
- Support and supervision of the Allied Health Team
- Leave planning and management
- Solving problems in the field including managing complex client issues such as grievances and complaints in a timely and supportive way
- Undertaking case reviews and seeking customer feedback
- Keeping client records and files
- Operational Budget Management.
- Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of a range of funding sources including: NDIS, NIIS, CHSP, Hicaps and fee for service.
Design and implement a practice management framework assuring standard operating procedures are in place at all sites including systems for:
- Workflow procedures and practices for all aspects of the service
- Intake management
- Case allocation and workload monitoring
- Monitoring the rostering of billable hours by the therapists, including tracking individual performance
- Participating in continuous improvement activities as research and feedback dictate
Undertake general management and leadership responsibilities:
- Provide professional clinical leadership in the development of clinical and service practices to ensure expert, timely and efficient outcomes for clients, support with complex case management, and the ability to coach and mentor staff.
- Ability to travel to other sites including frequent intra-state travel.
- Out of hours work will be required at times.
What's needed to be successful?
- Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse or Physiotherapist.
- High level of clinical knowledge, particularly relating to spinal chord damage and/or neurological conditions
- Experience in practice management and coordination of managing a high performing team of clinical professionals.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience delivering high level outcomes for clients.
