ARC Justice is an independent, not-for-profit, human rights organisation that incorporates the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre, the Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre and Housing Justice.

Through the delivery of accessible legal services and tenancy advice, ARC Justice not only provides support to people in regional and rural Victoria experiencing disadvantage relating to their housing, family, relationship, consumer, economic, social and civil rights. They advocate for systemic change to create a fairer and more inclusive community.

Your Impact

As Managing Lawyer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Shepparton integrated legal practice and service delivery of the legal team. Specifically, you will:

  • Manage, supervise, mentor and support a team of legal staff (senior lawyers, lawyers and paralegals) and non-legal staff fostering a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Provide expert legal advice on casework and training and professional development
  • Work closely with the Director of Legal Practice to monitor and continuously improve legal services being delivered
  • Identify opportunities to contribute to policy issues and law reform submissions
  • Coordinate and deliver legal education, information and outreach services to the community
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to support referral pathways.

What you bring

You are a senior lawyer of a community legal centre or have relevant experience from working in a law firm who can demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice. This role would suit an experienced and nurturing people leader or someone who is ready to take the next step up into a leadership role.

You also have:

  • An unrestricted Victorian Practicing Certificate
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more of key practice areas including, family law, family violence, child protection, consumer complaints, credit and debt, infringements, tenancy and summary crime
  • Experience in managing, leading or mentoring teams
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills with the ability of providing expert advice
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills with the ability to collaborate with a cross section of the community and sector partners.
