Shelter Tas is the State's peak body for housing and homelessness. We are seeking a highly motivated team member with strong administrative skills to coordinate the Workforce Development Program and contribute to the organisation’s other projects and daily operations.

This Hobart-based role is for approximately 28 hours per week, paid at Level 5 SCHCADS Award until June 2025, with a possible extension dependent on funding.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Core duties include brokering in training based on the sector’s needs, managing participant bookings and venues, liaising with trainers, feedback and evaluation from participants, and minutes and agendas for the Workforce Development Program Reference Group. We are looking for a colleague who can also contribute to Shelter Tas’ broader activities, including skills or ability to develop skills in MYOB and payroll.

Working with the small Shelter Tas team will also involve assistance with planning for events (Homelessness Week and AGM), sector engagement and secretarial duties, plus communications or policy work where needed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Only applications who address the following selection criteria will be considered.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • High level administrative skills, written and verbal communication skills, and IT skills (including online booking systems and record keeping)
  • Relevant qualifications or appropriate experience working in the community sector or comparable industries
  • A well-developed capacity to work flexibly within a small team, and establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent time management skills, including working to deadlines, and attention to detail at all times
  • Demonstrated experience and competence to work autonomously

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working in a community-based or member-based organisation/peak body
  • Understanding of and commitment to Shelter Tas’ values and to the affordable and social housing and homelessness sector
  • Skills in, or ability to acquire skills in, Microsoft 365, MYOB, SurveyMonkey, Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign), WordPress, Mailchimp, and Eventbrite
  • Current driver’s licence
