Searson Buck is proud to be partnering with Kennerley’s to appoint their new Chief Executive Officer. Based in Hobart, this is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced CEO or a senior executive with leadership experience to join a not-for-profit organisation that has been in operation for over 150 years.
Kennerley has been providing care and support to children and their families in Southern Tasmania since 1869. Their purpose “To build a brighter future for Tasmanian children, young people and their families” is at the heart of everything they do. The organisation is governed by a volunteer Board and run by a team of dedicated staff, foster carers and volunteers.
Kennerley’s model of care is at the forefront of evidence-based social work practice, enabling children and young people to grow into competent and confident individuals. The range of services provided by the organisation for families includes foster care, community respite care, a family connection program, and support for older children moving out of the foster care system. They are proudly an accredited Safeguarding Children Service (SGC).

You will be an experienced Chief Executive Officer or senior executive, who has outstanding leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills. You will possess sound judgement and be a creative thinker.
With a growth mindset, you are not afraid to take calculated risks, display a high level of resilience and most importantly are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable Tasmanian children.
You will have previously led, multidisciplinary teams, and have the capacity to develop staff to ensure a client-centric approach is at the core of what they do.
As an exceptional relationship builder, you will enhance existing relationships with government, corporate partners, the media, and the community. You will be comfortable with a public profile and be a genuine storyteller who can convey the organisation’s stories with heart and compassion.
An understanding of child welfare matters and experience in the interpretation and application of legislative and statutory requirements is highly advantageous.
You will already hold a National Police Check and Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People registration or be willing to attain one.
