About the role:
We are currently recruiting for an Early Childhood Educator to join us at Save the Children Australia (SCA) on a part-time basis, 4 days per week. Reporting to the Senior Early Childhood Educator, this role actively engages parents in the delivery of quality playschemes to facilitate improved relationships between parents and children. This identified role is specifically targeted towards assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to link with Kindergarten programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver programs and support services that promote positive and culturally respectful approaches to parenting, early childhood education and care, and child and family wellbeing
- Creating a welcoming and safe environment for families and children to encourage active participation and program growth
- Engaging with families and facilitating improved family relationships
- Observing the behaviour of children and parents to assist in development needs
- Building rapport with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold a Certificate III in Children's Services, or other relevant qualification
- Have strong experience working with children aged 0-6 and families in a group setting
- Have experience working with culturally diverse communities
- Demonstrate an ability to build rapport and relationships with adults and children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Have significant knowledge of childhood development needs and an understanding of stages and influences
