Working as the Social Justice and Policy Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in driving the social justice agenda and advocacy for the Society. Working with Executives and Committees you will be responsible for the overarching co-ordination of the agenda for the Society’s key priorities for improved Social Justice including homelessness and housing as a basic human right; income inadequacy and food insecurity and support for asylum seekers, refugees and first nations peoples.
To be successful in this role you will see this role as more than just a job, bringing your proven commitment to social justice, with a demonstrated understanding of the broad range of issues impacting vulnerable members of our community. You will have applied and demonstrated knowledge of contemporary communication and awareness raising strategies, along with the ability to bring together quality submissions and position papers and provide quality advice to executives and stakeholders.
This is your chance to make a real difference, bringing energy and drive is key to this role, ensuring that there is a clear focus on developing the support frameworks that give people that “hand up” they need and removing disadvantage. You will have well developed communications skills along with a proactive, collaborative mindset and a demonstrated capacity to advocate on behalf of the organisation and/or community groups.
Qualifications relevant to social justice and advocacy and some previous experience in social justice and advocacy or a related field is essential.
