St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (Vinnies) has been serving the local community since 1924. Blue Door, located within the Ainslie Village, has been an integral part of the community since 1983. The drop-in centre provides support and assistance to anyone in need within the community and the surrounding area. The centre is a socially inclusive environment where participants can collect free and nutritious meals, hygiene and other supplies, information, and referrals to connect with other services and access life skills, advice, and advocacy. The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for creating a supportive and socially inclusive atmosphere for patrons, offering information referrals and advice, and all tasks relating to the provision of preparing healthy meals and snacks.
Tertiary qualifications in a human service-related field such as psychology, social work, or community welfare related discipline, with a minimum Cert IV in a human service-related field or working towards a higher relevant qualification is required. Additionally, a current WWVP card, current ACT or NSW Driver’s Licence, Certification in First Aid, or willingness to attain within 3 months is essential.
