About the team and role

Young Adults Support Services Teams provide a diverse range of integrated programs that provide early intervention and complex case management to young people aged 16-25 at any given time. The service also administers the delivery of 90 private rental brokerage packages across the North/West regions of Melbourne per annum.

The Youth Justice Case Manager works out of the Northern Community Hub, providing support and accommodation to homeless young people aged between 17 to 25 years who are exiting custodial settings. The programs aim to assist young people in securing and maintaining affordable housing by addressing unmet needs through an outreach case management model. The role advertised is a dual role that combines both Youth Justice Community Services Support (YJCSS) and Youth Justice Homelessness Assistance (YJHA).

About you

You are an appropriately qualified professional with experience in providing comprehensive case management, planning and support to assist clients within a homelessness setting. You have experience in maintaining constructive, empathetic, supportive and respectful working relationships particularly for an integrated service response.

Key Selection Criteria

Mandatory

• Full Victoria Driver's License
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, Psychology

Experience, Skill and Personal Attributes

• Experience and a broad understanding of Youth Justice, homelessness services, and the community services sector;
• Experience in working with young people with multiple and complex needs, including mental health issues, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), family violence, justice involvement etc.
• Demonstrated understanding of case management principles including strengths-based practice and trauma informed approached;
• Ability to build and maintain professional rapports with young people and addressing their individual support needs;
• Demonstrated ability to establish & maintain positive and productive working arrangements with a range of government and non-government stakeholders;
• Can demonstrate excellent interpersonal verbal & written communication skills and high computer literacy.
