St George Community Transport (STGCT) is a not-for-profit organisation that is committed to improving the lives of its customers, by providing a range of services to meet their needs, goals, and preferences which will enable them to live independently in their own homes.

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this role is to provide safe, reliable, and comfortable transport for all clients that are in accordance with the service’s policies and procedures and complying with all traffic and related legislation.

Our drivers are the face of the organisation and are responsible for; Operating allocated fleet vehicles; Assisted pickups and transport for elderly and disabled clients - (including using the wheelchair hoist); Assisting with transport and carriage of shopping bags and mobility aids; Operation of computerised trip and GPS systems.

What we are looking for:

Driver who are available either:

  • Full-time (38 hours a week) or
  • Part-time (3 or 4 days a week)

Essential:

  • LR licence with a satisfactory driving record
  • Current First Aid Certificate – or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of role).
  • Drivers Authorisation (willingness to complete prior to commencement of the role).
  • Pass a health assessment, equivalent to bus and taxi drivers.
  • Complete a Functional Capacity Evaluation
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing training and vehicle orientation
  • General computer literacy and ability to use a tablet and/or smartphone
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively, especially with the elderly and frail, people with disability, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Detailed geographical knowledge of the area including major local landmarks
  • Time management skills

Mandatory:

  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children check must be completed and cleared before employment may commence
