About Stepping Stone House

Stepping Stone House is a not-for-profit charity that provides accommodation and personal development for children and young people aged 12-25 years old who through no fault of their own find themselves homeless, at risk of homelessness or unable to live at home.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, the Fundraising and Marketing Manager will be responsible for growing the brand and revenue capacity of Stepping Stone House. This is achieved through strategic planning and leading a well-developed fundraising team. The role will further develop existing fundraising campaigns as well as search for new audiences through new revenue streams to increase the supporter base, drive donor income and build long-term donor relationships. The team currently includes an events manager, digital marketing coordinator, strategic adviser, advocacy and partnerships manager, senior grants writer, grants writer, salesforce administrator and an admin and marketing co-ordinator. Our plan is to significantly expand this team to exponentially increase income to support additional children and young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

What you will be doing - Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and implement a thorough Fundraising Strategy which sets clearly defined financial goals and outcomes for SSH.
  • Lead and develop the fundraising and marketing team to deliver set goals and outcomes.
  • Ensure that all campaigns are consistent with SSH’s philosophies and values.
  • Keep abreast of industry best-practice to ensure the SSH Fundraising and Marketing Strategy remains relevant and competitive.
  • Implement an ‘always on’ approach to fundraising, utilising social media and other marketing platforms to achieve this.
  • Develop and manage a formal Bequests Program.
  • Drive a formalised Regular Giving Program and use this as a vehicle for attracting new supporters to SSH.
  • Build a strong rapport with the SSH Board, staff, and long-standing donors.
  • Oversee relationships with creative agencies and contributors.
  • Build the Sleep Under the Stars event into a household recognised brand to drive further growth.
  • Maintain connection to existing corporate partners and sponsors.
  • Identify, research, attract, and secure new sponsors and partners.
  • Establish SSH as a reputable, innovative, and thought leader in its field.
  • Oversee SSH Social Media presence in alignment with the SSH Digital Strategy.

  • Fundraising targets, supporter retention, brand awareness.

About You – Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in fundraising, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and demonstrated success at a management level in a fundraising and/or marketing role.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising and/or marketing strategies.
  • Proven ability to meet fundraising targets, along with creating and developing new fundraising opportunities.
  • Demonstrated project management, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Strong relationship, networking, and communication skills.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of homelessness and issues facing young people in the homelessness sector.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Working with Children Certification (Employment) and National Police check.
