The Social Research Centre is part of the Australian National University (ANU) and enjoys unprecedented access to ANU researchers and ANU’s world-class research environment.

We are seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to take responsibility for coordinating the effective and efficient planning, scheduling, resourcing and progress monitoring across our project portfolio, thus ensuring clients’ timelines and requirements are achieved. The role also has a responsibility to drive process improvement initiatives within the scope of the role.

The successful candidate will have exceptional stakeholder liaison, communication and negotiation skills, be highly organised and have relevant experience in project management, coordination or scheduling. An understanding of the social research business environment will be desirable.

This position is offered as a permanent part-time opportunity (25 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in our William Street office.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, schedule and forecast the activities associated with the project lifecycle, integrating individual project schedules with overall priorities and resource availability
  • Proactive negotiation and co-ordination of changes to project timelines and deliverables, including facilitating communications between relevant staff to discuss and resolve issues
  • Maintain the central scheduling tools, ensuring project milestones are documented accurately and understood by key stakeholders, and identifying system improvements
  • Monitor and report on progress, including forecasting of completion dates and overall monitoring of project timelines, activities and costs

Key selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management / coordination / scheduling
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Strong business acumen
  • Good computer skills including MS Office package
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of social research business context is desirable.
