Southern Harvest Association is a a Farmer led organisation that works to foster the sustainable growth and availability of local produce within the ACT and SE NSW region. We have a small team of staff who work closely with volunteers to bring ethical, sustainable food to our community via aggregated produce boxes, markets, online and in person retail outlets, education, advocacy, networking, tours, feasts and festivals
We are currently looking to bring another person into our produce team. This group works Tues-Thur 12-6pm packing produce for distribution in Canberra and surrounds. More info can be found here on our website. This would be a permanent part time position starting at 6-12 hours per week with a view to up-skilling with increasing time and responsibility to cover leave of other staff in the first half of next year. This would be a 1 year contract with an option to renew after that time.
Two-three staff normally work onsite each day. The role involves working in an undercover but mostly outdoor space, handling fresh produce, weighing and packing, and some heavy lifting. We work in all weather as long as it is not dangerous. Staff need to work well in a group and be able to interact with customers.
Up-skilling will require the person coming into this role to also take on some work-from-home administration tasks. A sound knowledge of simple spreadsheets, online cloud platforms and work spaces would be a plus.
Southern Harvest is looking for someone committed to revolutionising the food system for a better future for people, land and farmers.
