The team operate locally as self-organised teams – called Recovery 2gether teams. Team members are collectively responsible and accountable for:

  • working with the people we support (e.g. clients, consumers, family, and carers) and
  • undertaking key functions (eg. Recruitment and onboard, Quality and Safety etc) by a nominated Function lead.

Team members work collaboratively with other team members to facilitate the effective operation of the team supported by an Operations Lead/Recovery 2gether Coach.

The Program

This program delivers supports for people with a psychosocial disability working across the Western Sydney region. The program supports consumers to test their eligibility for access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), using a recovery-oriented focus.

About the Role

The NPS Access Worker will support consumers to:

  • transfer to organisation/s offering NDIS supports, if they are found eligible for the NDIS, or
  • access other funded programs and mainstream supports if they are found ineligible for the NDIS.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct one-on-one service delivery supporting consumers to with severe and persistent mental health make their own decisions and engage with other services and supports.
  • Be aware of all risk assessments and review these prior to consumer contact and ongoing and ensure that the supports are delivered safely and in the manner agreed with the consumer.
  • Ensure that all relevant service delivery, consumer data, case notes and goals and outcomes information is current and up to date on the Client Management System. This will be done in collaboration with the consumer during each occasion of service.
  • Liaise with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) & Local Area Coordinators (LACs) to support consumers in applying for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

To succeed in this role, we are looking for:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health, health or welfare degree, or Cert IV in mental health or equivalent level of expertise attained through previous appointments, service and study
  • Knowledge of NDIS with experience in mental health
  • Ability to use culturally safe practices in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse and people who identify as LGBTQIA.

Your application for this position will require you to have a Police Check (verified in the last 6 months), a current Working with Children's Check, an application in process for the NDIS Worker Screening clearance at Service NSW and under the current public health order, evidence of at least 1 dose of the Covid-19 vaccine or provide evidence of a medical exemption.
